Blog Definition - What's A Blog And How Can I Make Money With One?

The more time you spend on the Internet, the more you tend to take things for granted. Though I've been around long before blogs, I've come to take them for granted as well once I saw how popular they became. What I tend to forget, is that there are people new to the Internet who don't yet know what blogs are, what they're for and even better yet, how they can make money with their blogs. Well, this article is going to answer all those questions. Hopefully, after reading this, you'll have a pretty good idea of whether or not you want to set up your own blog.

The first order of business is to explain what blog stands for because it's actually short for weblog. A weblog is a log where people jot down their personal thoughts about a number of subjects. Most weblogs are very specialized, meaning that they are on one topic and one topic only, such as Internet marketing. There are blogs dedicated to nothing but Internet marketing topics, such as how to make money online, how to set up an autoresponder, how to write articles and so on. Then there are some blogs that are simply random thoughts and touch on a variety of topics.

The concept of blogging really started long before blogs came into vogue, when people would set up their home pages featuring photos of their dog, what they ate for breakfast, who they're going out with and so on. Back then, they weren't called blogs. They were simply home pages. But as these pages began to get more specialized and as their look began to change, the term blog came about.

As blogs became more popular, sites started popping up that made it easy for a person to create their own blog easily, such as blogger.com, which is one of the biggest ones. This makes it so that a person doesn't have to create their own blog from scratch. Just type in some text, push a button, and you've got a blog. Technology has come a long way.

So, how can we make money with these blogs? Well, it's certainly not by throwing up pictures of your dog. But imagine that somebody is looking for information on Internet marketing. All you need to do is put up a blog with some information on the subject and then redirect this person to a resource where they can get more info if they like. This resource will most likely be your affiliate link to an Internet marketing product that you endorse. And there you have it, income in the making.
